Associate Dean William Byrnes was the #9 SSRN-ranked tax professor of the year for 2016 (Jan. 31, 2017).

Professor Vanessa Casado Pérez presented a working paper at the “Property Law Works in Progress Program” at the at the 2017 AALS Annual Meeting in San Francisco (Jan. 4, 2017).

Professor Gabriel Eckstein authored the chapter, “International law and transboundary aquifers,” in Handbook on Water Law and Policy, edited by Rieu-Clarke, Andrew Allan, Sarah Hendry and published by Routledge.

Associate Dean Susan Fortney presented at the AALS Professional Responsibility Program at the 2017 AALS Annual Meeting. Her topic was “Teaching Professional Responsibility in a New World of Practice” (Jan. 5, 2017).

Professor Michael Z. Green moderated a panel that he organized for the A​ALS Annual Program of the Labor Law and Employment Relations Section. The topic was “Classifying Workers in the ‘Sharing’ and ‘Gig’ Economy” (January 5, 2017).

  • Served as the Scholar-in-Residence for the A​BA Labor and Employment Section’s Alternative Dispute Resolution in Labor and Employment Law Committee Midwinter Meeting in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where he presented his paper, “Black Worker Protest and ADR,” (Jan. 27, 2017).
    • Presented an additional paper, “The Promise of Mediation Under the Ever Expanding Scope of the ADAAA: Navigating Psychiatric Disability Minefields When an Employee Suffers from Bipolar Disorder,” at the Midwinter Meeting (Jan. 29, 2017).
  • Quoted in “Judge: Don’t Punish YISD teacher for Colorado high,” in the El Paso Times discussing an administrative law judge’s decision finding that an El Paso teacher should not lose her license or be disciplined for legally consuming marijuana in Colorado (Jan. 27, 2017).

Professor Glynn Lunney's article, “Empirical Copyright: A Case Study of File Sharing, Sales Revenue, and Music Output,” was accepted for publication in volume 24 of the Supreme Court Economic Review.
