Our jobs represent one of the most important aspects of our daily living. As employees and employers navigate issues arising in the workplace, the laws governing the employment relationship play a key role. Those lawyers who seek to develop a sufficient level of mastery of employer-employee legal concerns can affect many important components of a successful workplace.
In the Workplace Law Program at Texas A&M University School of Law, we focus on practical application of the law in and out of the classroom. Whether desiring to represent employees or employers, students learn about the complexities of employment discrimination, employment, and labor laws along with all other laws that affect the workplace. They also have the opportunity to put their classroom learning to work in many experiential aspects either through simulations, externships, and internships.
With a burgeoning commitment to developing a niche in this field, we welcome workplace law scholars, alumni, as well as attorneys from firms, the government, unions, and in-house counsel to conferences, workshops, and lectures about the benefits of workplace law. As a result, the Texas A&M Workplace Law Program seeks to offer a unique opportunity for students to learn and gain experience in preparation to become workplace lawyers.
Professor Michael Z. Green, director of the Workplace Law Program and member of the Aggie Dispute Resolution Program faculty, was elected to the National Academy of Arbitrators, recognized for his extensive scholarship and leadership activities in labor-management relations.
