Professor William Byrnes, Associate Dean for Special Projects:

  • The only U.S. academic invited to present at the International Tax Cooperation Congress 2019: Digital Economy, Transfer Pricing & Litigation in Tax Matters in Barcelona, Byrnes discussed the new global framework for transfer pricing.

  • Only academic invited to join the Cambridge Forums transfer pricing workshop held in Frankfurt, Germany, to share knowledge and develop relationships with hiring partners of global law firms, directors of multinational tax departments, and financial sector leaders.

Irene CalboliProfessor Irene Calboli:

  • Served as a scientific organizer of the First IP & Innovation Researchers of Asia (IPIRA) Conference, a collaboration of Texas A&M University School of Law; the Faculty of Law, University of Geneva; Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia; World Trade Organization (WTO); World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO); and the WIPO Academy. Calboli also co-organized the IP Researchers Europe (IPRE) Conference, which served at the model for the IPIRA Conference held in Kuala Lumpur, January 31 - February 2, 2019.

Professor Gabriel Eckstein, Director of the Program in Natural Resources Systems:

  • Begins his term as president of the International Water Resources Association (IWRA). He chaired the International Scientific Committee for IWRA’s XVI World Water Congress in 2017 and served as treasurer from 2010-2015. Established in 1971, IWRA provides a global, knowledge-based forum for bridging disciplines and geographies by connecting professionals, students, individuals, corporations and institutions concerned with the sustainable use of the world’s water resources. The IWRA is focused on improving and expanding the understanding of water issues through education, research and information exchange among countries and across disciplines. 

Professor Elizabeth Trujillo, Co-Convener of the Global and Comparative Law Program:

  • Discussed “Hot Topics” surrounding the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (NAFTA 2.0) at the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) annual meeting in early January.
