The vast majority of legal disputes are resolved outside the courtroom through dispute resolution, which is no longer “alternative.” Expert negotiation, mediation, and arbitration skills are absolutely vital to the practice of law in the 21st century.
Dispute resolution is a part of every area of practice, from family law to business and criminal law. Even trial lawyers must be familiar with dispute resolution processes given that the overwhelming majority — over 96% — of civil and criminal cases don’t go to jury trial and are resolved through dispute resolution procedures.

In today’s global, information-based economy, fostering innovation and safeguarding intellectual property (IP) is more important and complex than ever. From semiconductors to sitcoms and art to agriculture, IP laws protect original designs, creations, and innovations. At Texas A&M Law CLIP, we combine classroom time with hands-on experience to prepare our J.D. and graduate students to navigate the complex legal issues surrounding patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets.
The Intellectual Property Law program at Texas A&M Law has continuously ranked in the top 10 by U.S. News and World Report for the past eight years.
The Center on the Structural Constitution studies how the Constitution shapes the design and functioning of government institutions, with a focus on federalism, separation of powers, and the administrative state. Based in Texas and Washington, D.C., the Center hosts scholarly events, supports student learning, and connects legal experts, policymakers, and scholars. Through its programs and research, the Center promotes civic engagement and encourages dialogue among diverse perspectives.

Our natural environment is a highly complex and integrated system, and sound decision-making related to the sustainable management of natural resources and the environment requires a broad and interdisciplinary approach. The Energy, Environmental, and Natural Resource Systems Law Program (EENRSLP) at Texas A&M Law endeavors to train and offer real-world experience to students on law and policy issues related to the exploitation, management, and conservation of these resources, especially as they intersect with other disciplines and with communities worldwide.

The Institute for Healthcare Access was established by the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents in 2023. The Institute is a collaboration between Texas A&M Health Science Center, Texas A&M University School of Medicine, and Texas A&M University School of Law. This innovative institute will lead interdisciplinary health policy research, help advance interdisciplinary and interprofessional education, and create innovative clinical and community partnerships across Texas A&M to expand healthcare access and improve health in Texas — where access to affordable healthcare is a major concern — and across the nation.
The Institute will be based on the Texas A&M-Fort Worth campus, which is currently under construction and slated to be completed in 2025.

The Workplace Law Program at Texas A&M Law focuses on the practical application of the law in and out of the classroom. Whether desiring to represent employees or employers, students learn about the complexities of employment discrimination, employment, and labor laws along with all other laws that affect the workplace. They also have the opportunity to put their classroom learning to work in many experiential aspects, either through simulations, externships, or internships.
