Serving the Community

As part of our mission to serve all Texans, we offer a limited range of legal services to members of the community free of charge through our Texas A&M Legal Clinics.

Texas A&M Legal Clinics function as a teaching law firm where our law students gain valuable experience working with real clients while supervised by experienced lawyers. Our students get to apply what they learn in class to real-world cases, and our community is supported by assisting clients who may otherwise not have access to legal services.

Availability Limitations

As an educational institution we follow an academic calendar. Therefore, clinics have reduced capacity over the summer. The best times to request legal services are December-January and August-September. This provides the best opportunity for cases to be addressed during the academic term. While many matters can be handled in a single semester, the academic calendar means there will be delays between periods of work for matters that take longer than a single semester to complete, and those delays can range from five weeks (in the winter) to three months (in the summer). Our services are provided by law students working under the supervision of experienced attorneys. However, some matters may take more than one semester to prepare, or resolve, it is possible that different students (and perhaps a different supervising attorney) may take over from one semester to the next.

To Request Representation

  1. Review the list of available clinics in the accordions below and submit a request form.
  2. A representative will review and respond to your request to let you know about next steps.

Additionally, clinic operations are based on capacity and are not always available.

If we are unable to represent you, please refer to the list of attorney referral services at the bottom of this page.

Please Note: Acceptance as a client of one of the clinics is not guaranteed, and is ultimately based on availability of resources, absence of conflicts of interest, satisfying our income or operating budget requirements, and educational value for our students. Submitting a request does not establish an attorney-client relationship between Texas A&M Legal Clinics and the requestor. We will not begin doing any work on your behalf until we both decide you will become a clinic client, and an engagement letter has been signed. You have the right to continue to look for an attorney and decline any legal services we may offer.
