Your Path to Law School—Now Test Optional

Texas A&M Law has established a new process, to enroll a limited number of applicants on a test-optional basis. You should consider this process if you can demonstrate preparedness for law school independent of an LSAT, GRE, or JD Next score. Ways you might do so include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Excellent performance in college – as evidenced by grades, course rigor, and other factors
  • Significant, relevant work experience
  • Military experience
  • A doctoral or master's degree
  • Passage of the Patent Bar

In addition to completing the JD application, you might also consider submitting the following materials to assist with the evaluation of your application:

  • Virtual interview
  • Contribution statement
  • Official SAT and/or ACT score (if available)
  • TOEFL score (if applicable)
  • Resume/CV summarizing work history and/or military experience

You will receive instructions about how to submit these materials after you complete the application.

To be eligible for test-optional admission, you must not have a reportable LSAT, GRE, or JD Next score. An applicant who applies through the test-optional process and subsequently registers for the LSAT, GRE, and/or JD Next must notify our admissions office immediately. If an applicant takes one of those examinations, they are no longer eligible for admission through the test-optional process. Any prior offers of admission or scholarship will be rescinded, and the applicant will be reevaluated with the general applicant pool.
