Announcement of acquisition of law school by Texas A&M UniversityOn August 12, 2013, Texas A&M University purchased the ongoing operations of Texas Wesleyan University School of Law located in downtown Fort Worth. On August 13, 2013, Texas A&M University School of Law, fully accredited by the American Bar Association, began operations at the same location in Fort Worth.



Prior to the acquisition, Texas A&M University received the necessary approvals from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. In addition, the accrediting body for Juris Doctor degrees in the United States, the Council of the ABA Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar, acquiesced in the transaction in August 2013. The Council also determined that the law school’s existing ABA accreditation would transfer to Texas A&M University School of Law.

In addition to being fully accredited by the Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar (321 N. Clark Street, Chicago, IL ​60654, ​312-988-6738, https://www.americanbar.org/), the School of Law also continues as a member of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS).
